A 18-year-old Sulphur man has been charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, criminal damage to property and theft over $500, authorities said. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Marty D. Ashworth, 921 Ivy St., was already incarcerated at the Calcasieu Correctional Center for a Sept. 6 burglary in Sulphur when the additional charges were filed. “In July 2010, deputies were dispatched to a home on West Burton Street in Sulphur regarding a burglary that occurred,” Myers said in a news release. “When deputies arrived and spoke with the victim, he advised when he returned home, he noticed his front door was damaged and his bedroom had been ransacked. “The victim stated a fireproof safe was missing from his bedroom, which contained over $1,000 in cash, a checkbook and other personal documents.” Ashworth’s bond was set at $7,000. Detective John Casarez was the lead investigator.””
