McNeese Cowgirls soccer team signs eight

Eight players signed with the McNeese State women’s soccer team on Wednesday, according to Cowgirls head coach Scooter Savoie.

“We are really excited about this class,” Savoie said. “This is a great group of young ladies not only on the soccer field but in the classroom as well.”

All eight hail from Texas and two pairs are from the same club team.

The following is a list of the recruits with a small bio for each.

Goalkeeper, Annie Bravenec, Cinco Ranch High School (Katy, Texas)

• Earned first team all-district honors as a senior … Region 3-5A second team all-region selection as a senior… earned District 19-5A honorable mention all-district as a sophomore and junior… member of 2009 and 2010 South Texas 95 ODP State team… selected to National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society.

Forward, Kathryn Danhaueser, Plano Senior High (Plano, Texas)

• Member of the 2011 JV Soccer-Sherman Tournament Championship team and the 2011 Texas Lighting Puma Cup Championship team… helped lead team to the 2011 Plano Labor Day Finals… placed third in the Cross Country City Meet… member of National Junior Honor Society and Women in Business and Cultural Cuisine Club… received all-region band honors in 2009… received Academic Achievement Recognition in 2009… took part in several community service efforts such as Relay for Life, Adopt A Highway, North Texas Food Bank and Muscular Dystrophy “Muscle Walk”.

Forward, Stephanie Dusek, Plano West High School (Plano, Texas)

• Prepped at Plano West HS and also played for FC Dallas Blue 95 Club… Texas Summer Classic Champion… LHGCL Div. III Champion… Ken Smith Memorial Day Classic Finalist… Labor Day Cup Champion… Sandia Cup Champion… AFC Summer Classic Champion.

Forward, Taylor Heaton, John Guyer High School (Denton, Texas)

• Received second team all-state and first team all-region honors in 2010 at John Guyer HS… member of the Texas Lightning Puma Cup championship team and the Plano Labor Day Invitational Finalist team in 2011… member of student council… volunteered at the local food bank, the Denton animal shelter and at the Renaissance Village Retirement Center.

Midfielder/Forward, Savannah LaRicci, Clements High School (Sugar Land, Texas)

• Member of the 2012 State Championship team at Clements HS… team was a regional sem-finalist in 2011… earned first team all-district and second team all-region honors… First place in the 400 Meter Dash in district… placed third in the 200 Meter Dash… played for Space City FC.

Center back, Kaylin Peery, Wakeland High School (Frisco, Texas)

• Started as a defender on the 2011 Wakeland HS Texas 4A State Championship team… Helped lead Wakeland HS to the 2012 State Cup Semi-Finals… selected as first team all-district defender twice… started three years on the varsity squad… played for Dallas 95 Blue FC.

Outside back, Emily Silva, Lovejoy High School (Lucas, Texas)

• Earned second team all-district honors in 2010 for Lovejoy HS… selected to the 2011 honorable mention team… helped lead team to the 2010 Area Championship… Member of the 2011 Texas Lightning Puma Cup Championship team and the Plano Labor Day Invitational Finalist team in 2011… took part in AP classes in high school while maintaining an A honor roll status… member of the National Honor Society… took part in ASG Kicks for Cancer and MDA Muscle Walk.

Midfielder, Hannah Sutherland, Friendswood High School (Friendswood, Texas)

• Member of three-time regional and semi-finalist team at Friendswood HS… two-time all-district and all-county selection… served as team captain… credited with six assists as a junior and 11 for her career… cross country champion… member three-time state championship Space City FC 95 team… took part in the USYS National League… two-time winner of Premier League West team… selected to the 2007 West Virginia State ODP Pool and 2009 South Texas State ODP Pool teams… member of National Honor Society.””
