LACASSINE — With its Bayou Rum heading for store shelves in June, Louisiana Spirits has launched an inaugural toast Facebook contest.

“Our brand-new spirit, Bayou Rum, handcrafted from the finest Louisiana sugar cane, is ready to be shared with the world,” President Trey Litel said. “We’ve created this Facebook contest to celebrate both our state’s rich spirit and our cultural mantra to live life to its fullest and have fun along the way.

To enter, write a few short words — 250 characters maximum — toasting what you think Louisiana and its spirit mean to you. The toast should be submitted by May 9 to the Spirit of Louisiana at www.facebook.com/bayourum. Click on the contest button.

Entries will be voted on by Facebook friends, and 10 winners will be among the first to taste Bayou Rum during a launch party May 23 at L’Auberge Casino Resort.
