PINEVILLE (AP) — The Louisiana College Board of Trustees has voted to retain Joe Aguillard as president of the private Baptist college.

The Town Talk reported the board was considering competing motions on Tuesday — one that would terminate Aguillard and another that would that would affirm him as president.

Board Chairman Gene Lee declined to confirm what motions were considered and would not reveal vote totals, saying all action was taken in executive session. Others described the voting as “very close.” The board has 34 members although it was not revealed how many were present at Tuesday’s meeting.

Aguillard has been president of Louisiana College since January 2005.

He was recently accused of inappropriately diverting nearly $60,000 donated by the Cason Foundation to the college’s Caskey School of Divinity.
