Lake Charles woman pleads not guilty to carnal knowledge

A Lake Charles woman pleaded not guilty Monday in state district court to 11 counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Defense attorney Glen Vamvoras entered the plea on behalf of Renee Elizabeth Broussard, 42, 1636 E. Tank Farm Road, who was not present in court.

A pretrial conference was set for Jan. 16.

Broussard is accused of having sex several times with a 16-year-old boy she met online.

She was arrested on March and indicted in September. The incidents allegedly happened between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012.

Broussard is free on $110,000 bond.

Jessica Lonthier pleaded not guilty to accessory after the fact to second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

Lonthier, 34, 159 Nunez Road, was arrested at the same as Chad Wayne Daigle, who has been charged with two counts of second-degree cruelty.

Authorities allege Daigle abused a 1-year-old child, causing a skull fracture, a broken jaw and bleeding on the brain.

Two women arrested during Operation Havana Speed were arraigned Monday.

Phyllis Marie Breaux Shelton, 53, and Jessica Nicole Bogard, 36, both pleaded not guilty to methamphetamine distribution.

Prosecutors set a jury trial date of March 17, in front of Judge Kent Savoie, for Shelton and a case management conference for Jan. 15, in front of Judge Clayton Davis, for Bogard.

Authorities allege the women were part of a group in the Vinton/Starks area that was bringing in lab-quality meth to Southwest Louisiana and distributing it.””
