A 27-year-old Lake Charles man was arrested Thursday on child pornography charges, authorities said.

The man, Jeffrey Smith, admitted downloading sexually explicit images of children, state police said. Troopers reportedly seized computers from Smith’s home, which they searched Thursday.

Smith was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. If convicted, he faces up to a $50,000 fine and up to 20 years in prison.
