A 21-year-old Lake Charles man was arrested on vehicular homicide, DWI and other charges Saturday after the car he was driving crashed at the intersection of La. 385 and Gauthier Road, killing one of his passengers, authorities said.

State police said the man, Ryan Allen Adams, lost control of his 2013 Honda Accord as he traveled south through the intersection, running off the road, striking a metal signal support pole, re-entering the highway and coming to rest on the roadway. The accident reportedly happened just after 4 a.m.

The front-seat passenger, 18-year-old Hannah Clair McVey of Lake Charles, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, said state police Sgt. James Anderson.
