A Lake Charles man has been charged with second-degree murder after stabbing his roommate during an argument, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Michael Brown, 54, was arrested early Saturday morning. Bond was set at $1,500,000.

“We were dispatched to a mobile home at 101 Tousaint Road, Lot 91, Lake Charles,” Myers said. “Deputies discovered Gregory Bryant, 42, on the floor with a stab wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Myers said Bryant and Brown had an argument when Brown armed himself with a knife and stabbed Bryant. Brown confirmed he stabbed Bryant, Myers said.

“According to witnesses, the two had been out together at a local nightclub and had been arguing throughout the evening,” Myers said. “The argument escalated once they returned home. It is believed it was about money.”””
