A man killed on Hodges Street last week was shot with a .38-caliber revolver, according to a call information report released by Lake Charles police.

Joseph Blue, 29, was found dead by authorities responding to a call at 2510 Hodges St. at about 6 a.m. Friday. His girlfriend, Onzeletta Washington, 33, was charged with second-degree murder. She is being held in the Calcasieu Correctional Center on $1 million bond.

Washington called authorities at 5:47 a.m. and said Blue was “hitting on” her, according to the report. Washington told the dispatcher that she shot Blue and that he was lying down in the bedroom. She said she was calling from outside the home.

Washington said the gun was a .38 Special, which was also in the bedroom, according to the report. A Cobra Shadow .38-caliber revolver was recovered.

Washington was charged with second-degree murder that afternoon. Another woman listed in the report was released with a summons.

The information was released at the request of the American Press.

When police arrived at the scene, Blue was reportedly already dead.

A neighbor said she was awakened by a woman yelling. The neighbor said she saw a woman at the end of the driveway shouting on a phone, mentioning a gun and telling someone, “I need you to come now.”

Police and an ambulance showed up about two minutes later, she said.
