State police has said that Interstate 10 westbound near the Louisiana-Texas border will be closed starting at 7 a.m. Sunday. The closure, which will last at least 12 hours, is necessary in order to recover a truck and its load from the side of the highway.

Sgt. James Anderson said Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 around noon on Saturday. Anderson said Donald Wayne Richardville, of Catoosa, Okla., was driving west when his 18-wheeler traveled off the right side of the road.

Anderson said Richardville was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries and ”impairment is not suspected but the crash remains under investigation.”

“The truck, which is registered to Ace Heavy Haul LLC of Mooresville, N.C., was carrying a heat exchanger weighing 115,000 pounds,” Anderson said. “The total weight of the truck and cargo approached 200,000 pounds. For this reason, a large crane will have to be setup and used on the highway in order to recover the truck and its load.

Both westbound lanes of Interstate 10 will be closed at Exit 4. Traffic will be diverted north on La. 109 to the community of Starks and then west on La. 12 to Texas.””
