      Nation headed to dictatorship

A Louisiana congressman who calls himself a conservative, Southern Democrat feels the United States is headed toward dictatorship.

Joe D. Waggonner, Jr., of Plain Dealing, congressman from the fourth district, told Lake Charles Rotarians Tuesday that the Kennedy administration controls Congress through appointments and liberal-packed committees.

The administration gained complete control of all legislation in Congress when the size of the rules committee was enlarged. Waggonner said, As for Kennedy domination of government, he said, someone has suggested that the name of Washington be changed to Father Joe’s Boys Town.

A suggestion that the federal Constitution be complied with brought a burst of applause from Rotarians and guests.

“There are power-hungry people in Washington and elsewhere,” Waggonner said.
