Altuve placed on bereavement list

DETROIT (AP) — The Houston Astros have placed second baseman Jose Altuve on the bereavement list following the death of grandmother.

Players are allowed to stay on the bereavement list for a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven. Infielder Jake Elmore was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take his place on the roster.

Altuve left Monday night’s game with an injured jaw after a collision with outfielder Jimmy Paredes. Altuve is hitting .333 with 51 hits and 18 RBIs.

Elmore was hitting .300 with 10 doubles, 15 RBIs and eight stolen bases for Oklahoma City.””
