Allen takes lead after first round of Sulphur men’s city championship

Neithan Allen, the local leader in last week’s Louisiana state amateur, shot a five under par 66 Friday to take the first day lead in the Sulphur men’s city golf championship tournament at Frasch Park.

The event will continue for two more days, wrapping up play on Sunday.

Allen brought in consecutive nines of 33 with six birdies and one bogey which he made on the par three 16th hole.

He held a two shot lead over defending champion John Morrissey who posted a 68.

Also under par with a 69 was prep standout Sutton Farmer while at even par 71 were former champion Philip Hoffpauir and Chad Johnson and Chris Vallette posted a one over 72.

Only the championship flight played on Friday. Other flights will join in for the final two rounds.””
