EGAN — An 82-year-old Lake Arthur woman died early Friday in a two-vehicle traffic accident on La. 100 at La. 91 in Acadia Parish.

The woman, Gloria Pousson, was a passenger a vehicle that was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection shortly before 8 a.m., State Police Troop I spokesman Stephen Hammons said in a news release.

Pousson was restrained, but sustained fatal injuries in the crash, Hammons said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish coroner.

According to a preliminary investigation, the accident occurred as Gary Daigle, 57, of Church Point was driving a 2007 Dodge truck west approaching the intersection. An SUV driven by Elizabeth Scott, 55, of Iota was traveling east on La. 100 approaching Daigle's vehicle. For reasons unknown, Daigle turned left into the path of Scott's vehicle and struck the passenger side.

Daigle was not restrained, but was not injured in the crash.

Scott was restrained and was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
