The San Francisco Giants opened the @Café, a social-media headquarters at AT&T Park.

This is a version of something I envisioned for LSU baseball soon after the opening of the modern Alex Box Stadium in 2009. Tiger Stadium is a majestic backdrop as you look out from behind home plate toward center field, but the higher you sit, the more some of the background clutter behind the ballpark turns into visual clutter.

Can't remember if I wrote about this before or not, but I always thought LSU could fill in the gaps with something like this beyond the outfield wall, combining a virtual café with an actual one, where students and fans could gather on game days (or off days) and watch some baseball, or some practice, or just hang out and sip coffee, use the wi-fi and still have something of the feel of being outside. There's nothing like a ballpark for that.

It would have to be more vertical than horizontal, and it probably would have to be built with some creative angles, but why not? Someone at LSU is bound to be able to draw it up. Hey, maybe it could be a big baseball bat. Or a baseball b@.

So, come on, LSU. Where y'at? Or, I guess, where y'@?
