Dog who charged deputies shot, owner arrested in Ouachita Parish

MONROE (AP) — Ouachita Parish deputies have booked a 26-year-old Monroe man with two counts of aggravated assault on an officer and with violating the animal leash law.
The News-Star reported an arrest affidavit states that deputies went to Coy Williams' home in reference to a possible disturbance and a vicious dog complaint.
When deputies arrived, the affidavit said Williams was standing at the door with the dog and as they approached the residence he opened the door and let the dog out. The dog charged deputies.
One deputy fired two rounds into the dog's left chest and left front leg.
The affidavit doesn't state what happen to the dog, but it does state a woman came out and said Williams had planned to have the dog attack deputies upon their arrival.
