Crime Roundup: Westlake man charged with kidnapping, battery

A 53-year-old Westlake man has been charged with second-degree kidnapping and second-degree battery.

According to records from the Calcasieu Correctional Center, Joe Bruce Carver was arrested Sunday night by the Westlake Police Department.

Carver, 1801 Gandy St., Apt. B7, is being held on a $140,000 bond.



Local businesses hit by counterfeit check ring

City police are asking for the public’s help in identifying five men involved in a counterfeit check ring.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said multiple counterfeit checks were cashed at Buy & Save Beauty Supply, 1005 Broad St., and Abe’s Check Cashing, 1833 La. 14.

“The five subjects in the photos have been identified as being the suspects responsible for cashing these counterfeit checks,” Kraus said.

Authorities ask for help identifying theft suspect

City police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman who stole from Limelite Boutiqueook, 2517 Ryan St., on June 11.

The woman was wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt, pink baseball cap and black or dark-blue shorts.

Mark Antione Leclaire, 24, 3013 Warren St. — theft $500 to $1,500, speeding. Bond: $5,000.

Jessica Bess Celestine, 32, 1411 Clarence St., Westlake — drug possession, disturbing the peace. Bond: $4,000.

Keith Dwyane Landry, 28, 1312 Lewis St. — domestic abuse battery, simple criminal damage to property under $500, criminal trespass. Bond: $3,500.

Ronald Joseph Favors, 39, 3408 L. Benoit Road, Apt. A — cruelty to juveniles. Bond: $2,500.

Jonahvin D’mon Landry, 18, 2607 General Patch Ave. — simple burglary, motor vehicle theft. Bond: $2,000.

Stace Adam Deleon, 26, 434 Breaux Lane, Sulphur — possession of stolen things, direct contempt of court. Bond: $2,000.

Brennon Duay, 18, 155 Jim Winkler Road, Longville — failure to comply with sex offender identification requirements, theft under $500.

Joshua James Elliott, 36, 201 Orchard Drive — simple burglary.

Johnathan J. Taylor, 62, 2013 Willowick St. — drug possession, speeding.

• Michael Sean Vincent, 25, Gaylynn Drive, Sulphur — forgery, illegal possession of stolen things.

Derek Brent Salley, 24, Gaylynn Drive, Sulphur — forgery, illegal possession of stolen things.

Tionne Dentrail Perry, 17, Peck Street, Sulphur — simple burglary.

Raley Nicole Gaspard, 22, Mary Ann Drive, Sulphur — theft.

Brooklyn Dann Deroche, 19, Mary Ann Drive, Sulphur — theft.

Kristan Paige Deroche, 17, Andrew Young Road, Sulphur — theft.

Cody Joe Douglas, 22, Louisiana Avenue, Sulphur — resisting arrest, disturbing the peace by public intoxication.
