A Mamou man and woman are facing drug and weapon charges after a Tuesday traffic stop, authorities said.
Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff Office spokesman Christopher Ivey said 34-year-old Curtis Lee Leblanc Jr., 1312 9th St., and 18-year-old Crystal Marie Frank, 321 Rue Blond, have been charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute and illegal carrying of a weapon in presence of drugs.
“A deputy observed (the vehicle) on La. 26 traveling at a high rate of speed,” Ivey said. “Deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver, Leblanc, initially identified himself as Lester Roderick Ben.”
Ivey said deputies found two pounds of marijuana and a loaded .40 caliber pistol in the vehicle.
Leblanc was also charged with possession of stolen goods, resisting arrest by providing false identification, speeding, driving with a suspended license and no registration.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:
•Kyle Eugene Ferenbach, 23, 4312 Lucerne St., Metairie — drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond: $6,500.
• Patrick D. Morton, 45, 1310 St. Mary St. — aggravated battery.
• Allen Roy Sittig Jr., 307 N. Crocker St., Sulphur — drug possession, resisting an officer by flight, possession of drug paraphernalia, introducing contraband into a penal institution, littering, bicycle violation.
Sulphur police reported the following arrests:
•Adam Lee Vincent, 18, West Verdine Street, Sulphur — aggravated assault.
•Jesse Lynn Hughes, 31, Hoffpauir Lane, Sulphur — aggravated battery.
•Timothy Carl Benoit, 47, West Lyons Street, Sulphur — simple battery.
•Marty Dale Ashworth, 20, Shady Lane, Sulphur — simple burglary, resisting arrest.
•Diana L. Hall, 58, Quelqueshue Street, Sulphur — theft.
•Tyler Glenn King, 17, West Elizabeth Street — theft.
•Michael James Reed, 30, East Kent Drive, Sulphur — DWI.
Those listed are presumed innocent until proved guilty.
