Arrest made in hit-and-run
A Sulphur man who crashed his pickup into another truck, fled the scene and traded the damaged vehicle in at a local dealership was charged with hit-and-run Thursday, state police said.
Sgt. James Anderson said Gary Lynn Fee, 58, made an improper left turn at the intersection of La. 108 and La. 27 in the early-morning hours of Aug. 3 and hit a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup in the driver’s side.
The Dodge suffered heavy damage, and the driver was taken to a local hospital with a fractured back, fractured pelvis and broken ribs, Anderson said. Troopers at the scene found an F-250 emblem and checked repair shops and dealerships for a damaged truck of that model, he said.
They found a recently crashed Ford F-250 at a Sulphur dealership and traced it to Fee, who admitted hitting the other truck and trading in his pickup, Anderson said.
Fee was also charged with negligent injuring, failing to report an accident, improper turn and expired motor vehicle inspection. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correction Center, and bond was set at $16,600.
