Police find crack in man’s flashlight
JENNINGS — A 38-year-old local man was arrested after police found a flashlight containing numerous crack rocks in his home, authorities said.
Police discovered the drugs during a search of Barry Cole’s apartment early Sunday morning, said Police Chief Todd D’Albor. Cole was charged with possession of crack with intent to distribute.
His girlfriend was with him at the time and was released pending a review of charges, D’Albor.
Police had received numerous tips that Cole was selling crack in the apartment, he said.
LC police to hold take-back event
Lake Charles police will collect expired and unwanted drugs 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Civic Center’s north parking lot.
Since most abused prescription drugs come from the cabinets of family and friends, keeping old prescription drugs at home can pose a serious safety hazard, said Deputy Police Chief Mark Kraus.
Also, he said, studies have shown that flushing drugs down the toilet or throwing them away poses serious health hazards.
The service is free and anonymous.
