2 arrested after vehicle pursuit

Two Lake Charles men were arrested after police used tire spikes to stop a vehicle pursuit Saturday night, authorities said.

Joshua C. Davis, 19, 2226 Belden St., was driving the car and Germany D. Bellard, 17, 102 N. Cherry St., was his passenger, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said in a news release.

Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop the car for speeding on Interstate 10 in Lake Charles around 9:30 p.m., Myers said. The car, which matched the description of a stolen vehicle, made several unsafe lane changes, exited and returned to the interstate and ran stop signs and red lights, nearly causing collisions, she said.

After about 20 minutes, authorities used tire spikes to stop the chase, Myes said. No injuries or accidents were reported.

Davis was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle, illegal possession of stolen things, flight from an officer, reckless operation, expired driver’s license and contempt of court. His bond was set at $135,000.

Bellard was arrested for illegal possession of stolen things, two counts contempt of court and misrepresentation during booking.

Man charged for break-in, assault

JENNINGS — A Jennings man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into a home and assaulting the homeowner in front of the victim’s two children.

Sabastian L. Hanks, 21, was arrested Sunday on two counts of home invasion, simple battery, aggravated battery, simple criminal damage to property, aggravated assault and intimidation of a witness.

The alleged incident occurred Friday at a residence on Cleopha Road, chief criminal investigator Chris Ivey said Monday in a news release.

The victim told authorities that Hanks forced his way into his residence by kicking the door in, then physically assaulted him in front of his two children.

The victim sustained injuries to the head and back as a result of the assault, Ivey said.

Investigation leads to 3 drug arrests

JENNINGS — A month long investigation initiated by concerned citizens on suspected drug activity in their neighborhood led to the arrest of three people on multiple drug-related charges in Jeff Davis Parish.

Misty Guidry, 36, of Lake Arthur was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of oxycodone.

Travis Hebert, 37, of Gueydan was arrested for possession of a legend drug.

Cody Moore, 28, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant from Probation and Parole.

The trio were arrested Friday following a search of Moore’s residence on Andrus Cove Cemetery Road in which deputies found methamphetamine, pills and drug paraphernalia inside the home and vehicles, according to chief criminal investigator Chris Ivey.

Deputies also searched a second home on New Orleans Street in Lake Arthur and found additional drug paraphernalia and a possible stolen gun.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are pending, authorities said.

Carnal knowledge arrest in Jeff Davis

JENNINGS — A Jeff Davis Parish man who was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at DWI checkpoint Friday was arrested on an outstanding carnal knowledge with a juvenile charge.

Christopher P. Istre, 25, of Jennings was arrested at the checkpoint located on U.S. 90 just west of Jennings, according to chief criminal investigator Chris Ivey.

The checkpoint resulted in three citations being issued for driving under suspension, open container of alcohol and expired inspection sticker. Four standard filed sobriety tests were also conducted, but no DWIs were issued.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced the following arrests:

Timothy Wayne Rigmaiden, 43, 2208 Greenlawn St.: possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Schedule IV; reckless operation; illegal use of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under 17. Bond: $7,000.

Gregory Jerome Hill, 40, 211 Louie St. No. 30: prohibited acts Schedule II; prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia; obstruction of justice; issuing worthless check under $300; operating a vehicle while intoxicated, third offense; two counts direct contempt of court. Bond: $38,600.

Bobby Gerald Dailey, 57, 7785 Lepinay St, Hayes: domestic abuse battery.

Mark Allen Maricle, 29, 224 Avilia St., Sulphur: domestic abuse battery, child endangerment; direct contempt of court.
