The McNeese State softball team swept Stephen F. Austin in a Southland Conference doubleheader Saturday at Cowgirl Diamond, 5-4 and 4-0.

The first-place Cowgirls (29-9, 10-2 SLC) came from four runs down in the final three innings to win the opener as SFA’s Angela White (3-13) hit Marissa Koetting with a pitch to force in the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh.

Emily Vincent was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Cowgirls, including a two-run home run in the fifth inning.

Lauren Langner was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Meagan Bond threw two scoreless innings in relief of Jamie Allred for the win.

Bond (14-3) threw a three-hit shutout in the second game, striking out eight and walking one. It was her third shutout of the season.

The Ladyjacks (11-24, 4-10), who lost their fourth consecutive game, lost their eighth game by shutout.

The final game of the series is at 1 p.m. today.

Bond retired 22 of the 25 batters she faced and got all the run support she needed in the second inning when the Cowgirls scored four runs on five hits off SFA starting pitcher Hannah Welch (0-1), highlighted by a two-run double by Langner.
