The McNeese State basketball team travels to South Dakota Thursday for a 7 p.m. game in the semifinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitational.
The Cowgirls (20-14) advanced with a 66-58 win over Elon on Saturday, while South Dakota (19-15) defeated Lamar 71-48 Sunday.
McNeese and Lamar split a home-and-home series this season. Lamar won 57-53 on Jan. 19 in Lake Charles. The Cowgirls won 65-46 on Feb. 16 in Beaumont, Texas.
South Dakota is located in Vermillion and the Coyotes, who play in the DakotaDome, are members of the Summit League. They completed their Division I transition last summer and have made three consecutive postseason appearances.
McNeese is led by twin guards Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett. Ashlyn leads the team in scoring at 18.8 ppg. Caitlyn is second in scoring at 15.4 ppg and tops in assists with 4.6 per game.
The Coyotes are led by Nicole Seekamp, who is averaging 14.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She also has a team-high 112 assists and 57 steals.
Tempestt Wilson (12.9 ppg) and Polly Harrington (11.1 ppg) are the other South Dakota players averaging more than 10 points per game.
