Mother Nature puts damper on finale

From staff reports

Mother Nature wiped away the rubber game of a weekend series between McNeese State and Texas-Arlington, raining out Sunday's scheduled meeting between the teams. The non-conference game will not be made up.

Even though the teams did not play the third game of the series, they did play enough baseball over the weekend to constitute three whole games. UTA outlasted McNeese 9-8 in a 19-inning Friday night game that did not end until after midnight. The Cowboys evened up the series on Chayse Marion's walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday afternoon.

McNeese (5-2) will hit the road for the first time this year with a Tuesday night trip to the University of Houston before returning to Cowboy Diamond for a weekend series against NCAA regional qualifier Valparaiso.
