ARLINGTON, Texas — Freshman right-hander Bryce Kingsley pitched eight scoreless innings and McNeese State beat Texas-Arlington 4-0 Friday night.

The three-game series continues at 2 p.m. Saturday. McNeese (9-7) will send senior right-hander Blake Ware (3-1) to the mound.

Kingsley’s shutout was the third of the season for the Cowboys, the most since the 2006 season when they recorded five. Sam Peterson got the save, getting a double play and a ground out to end the game.

Kingsley (3-2) allowed four hits while striking out six. UTA (9-8) ace Brad Vachon (2-1) was charged with the loss after working eight innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
