The Children’s Theatre Company begins its 2012 Summer Theatre Workshops with “Wild Things” for children ages 5-8.
This workshop introduces children to theater through the use of creative drama, theater games, creative movement, stage makeup, costumes and music. The workshop cost is $65. It will be 10-11:15 a.m. each day July 9-11.
“Acting for the Camera,” for children ages 8-18, covers auditioning for commercials, reading commercial scripts, exploring different commercial techniques and beginning improvisational skills. Information and samples are shared on doing résumés, head shots and finding the best agent or manager. The workshop cost is $85. It will be held noon-1:30 p.m. each day July 9-11.
“Midsummer Fun,” which will introduce participants to the language, ideas and adventures of William Shakespeare, will be offered July 23-27. Students will perform excerpts from Shakespeare’s most popular plays and learn the technical aspects of lighting, set design and costume creation. The workshop will include a free public performance. Sessions will be 10-11:15 a.m. daily for children ages 5-8 and 10-noon daily for children ages 9-18. The workshop cost is $85.
“Kidz in Showbiz,” which will teach students musical theater techniques through acting, singing and dancing to songs from Broadway shows, will be July 30-Aug. 3. Sessions will be 10-11:15 a.m. daily for children ages 5-8 and 10-noon daily for children ages 9-18. The workshop cost is $85.
