CARENCRO (AP) — Lafayette Parish sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a 3-year-old boy found in his grandparents’ swimming pool.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Kip Judice told The Advertiser mere minutes had passed from the time Cullen Guilbeaux was last alive to when he was found unresponsive in the pool.

Deputies received a call at 8:55 p.m. Saturday from a house outside of Carencro. Judice say they arrived to find someone performing CPR, but the boy was exhibiting no signs of life.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
