The death of a 3-year-old Lake Arthur boy in May has been ruled a homicide, according to Acadia Parish Coroner Dr. Mark Dawson.
Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon and Acadia Parish Coroner Dr. Mark Dawson said in a joint news release Thursday that the investigation into the death of Keaghyn Ross Parsons is ongoing.
They are being assisted by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office and coroner.
Parsons was visiting his step mother in Evangeline when he collapsed in the home on May 19. He was taken to the Jennings American Legion Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The child's body was taken to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office for an autopsy. The results of the autopsy are pending, Melcanon said.
