A 14-year-old Barbe student has been charged with terrorizing, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said the student was arrested Sunday following a two-day investigation.
“On April 5, the Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding threats being made towards students and facility at Barbe High School,” Myers said Wednesday in a news release. “The investigation revealed an account was created on Instagram. It showed pictures of the school and students and contained comments that threatened the safety of the facility and students, to be carried out Monday.
“During further investigation, detectives tracked the origin back to a 14-year-old Barbe student.”
Myers said detectives have not found that the student had any intent or ability to carry out the act and the security of the school was not in any danger.
Detective Brent Young was the lead investigator.
