Barbe senior tight end Desean Smith has been selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, officials said on Thursday.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Smith, who committed to play at LSU in July, will be honored during an assembly in the Barbe Gym at 9 a.m. on Nov. 8.
The 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl is scheduled for noon on Jan. 5. The game will be televised by NBC.
For the past 12 years, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been the nation’s premier high school football game, serving as the preeminent launching pad for America’s future college and NFL stars. Percy Harvin, Jamaal Charles, Patrick Peterson and Andrew Luck all made their national debuts as U.S. Army All-Americans.
