Stromile Swifti admits stalking, on probation

Last Modified: Tuesday, July 24, 2012 11:49 AM

SHREVEPORT (AP) — Former NBA player Stromile Swift has been placed on probation for 18 months after pleading guilty to stalking a Shreveport woman.

The District Attorney's Office tells The Time the 32-year-old pleaded guilty Friday to one count of stalking, and Judge Ramona Emanuel gave him a suspended six-month jail term.

Swift was arrested May 19, 2011 after Chaquinita Pouncy told police he was following her vehicle after an argument. Less than six months earlier, police had arrested Swift when he allegedly drove up to Pouncy's house with a gun in his pocket.

Pouncy also alleged that Swift sent her threatening text messages.

The Grizzlies, then in Vancouver, made the LSU player the second pick of the 2000 NBA Draft. Smith also played for Phoenix and New Jersey.
