BATON ROUGE (AP) — East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputies say two Broadmoor Middle School students were arrested after an unloaded gun was found at school.

Casey Rayborn Hicks, a sheriff's office spokeswoman, an unnamed student reported seeing two other students with a gun at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Hicks tells The Advocate school administrators found the unloaded .25 caliber handgun in the booksack of a 15-year-old eighth-grader who was given the gun by a 13-year-old seventh-grader.

Deputies booked both students into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center on one count of carrying a firearm by a student on school property.
