THIBODAUX (AP) — Bayou Lafourche officials have reopened a control structure that was closed more than two weeks ago to prevent saltwater from creeping up the bayou and threatening local drinking supplies.
The opening of the saltwater control structure on Company Canal means boaters can now access the canal south of Lake Fields again, according to The Courier.
Officials had closed the structure because sustained winds from the east had the potential to push saltwater into the bayou. The structure was reopened Tuesday afternoon.
