LIVONIA (AP) — Pointe Coupee Parish sheriff's deputies say a 15-year-old boy was shot in the head in a duck-hunting accident in Livonia.
Capt. Steve Juge told The Advocate the boy, whose name was not released, suffered a serious head injury Saturday after he was shot with a 12-gauge shotgun.
Juge said the teen was one of three boys in a boat in Grosse Tete Bayou. He say one of the other hunters, also 15, swung to shoot at a duck but shot the victim instead.
The wounded boy is being treated at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
