LAFAYETTE (AP) — A Lake Charles doctor has pleaded guilty to defrauding Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance companies out of nearly $1 million.
U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley says Dr. Lynn E. Foret entered the plea Thursday before U.S. District Judge Richard T. Haik.
According to the bill of information, the 63-year-old Foret injected his patients' knees with a steroid solution while falsely billing and receiving payments for a more costly drug called Hyalgan. From 2003 to 2009, he received reimbursements totaling $948,249.11.
Foret, who specialized in orthopedic surgery, closed his practice in December.
Foret faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, restitution and three years of supervised release. A sentencing date has not been set.

Title: Dr. Lynn Foret
I no longer live in LC, but when I did, Dr Foret was my doctor. He is a warm and caring person. He is not perfect, but then none of us are. He is a husband, father, uncle and friend, not just a doctor. Most importantly he is a child of God. He was not created perfect -- but then none of us were. There are consequences each of us must pay for wrong decisions we have made in our lives. None of us are able to cast stones at him, without first remembering the wrongs we have been guilty of in our own lives. Those of us who love Dr. Foret for who he is, a child of God and brother to us, should pray for him and his family who are all suffering with him through this. I am not saying he is not guilty and should not have to accept the
consequences the law sets forth. I am just saying that we are not his judge and jury. We have a legal system for that. We
should show Godly compassion and pray for the entire family. That is the response Jesus had for all who persecuted Him.
