HOUMA (AP) — Authorities say a 41-year-old Houma man died after a scuffle inside a Wal-Mart that left three police officers injured.

Houma police tell The Courier Randolph Bonvillian Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene late Saturday night by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office.

Police say an officer working a security detail at the store heard a man screaming. When he approached Bonvillian, a fighting broke out and the officer was injured.

Police say two other officers were called to the scene and the fight continued. During the struggle, Bonvillian became unresponsive.

The Jefferson Parish Forensic Center will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The three officers have been placed on administrative leave with pay.
