NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A New Orleans man accused of stealing expensive Champagne and thousands of dollars from a gas station has been arrested after authorities say he returned to the store a few hours after the crime.
Marvin Davis was booked with armed robbery after police arrested him at around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday at the same gas station witnesses say he robbed shortly after 5 a.m.
Police say Davis leaped a counter while armed and stole $4,000 and two bottles of $500 Champagne. However, during the robbery, a clerk said Davis' mask fell from his face, and the clerk recognized him as a regular customer.
Police say that when they searched Davis' home, they found the alcohol, cash, a gun and the clothes he was allegedly wearing during the robbery.
