ALEXANDRIA (AP) — Alexandria police have charged a 16-year-old with second-degree murder.
Police tell The Town Talk officers were called around 9:50 p.m. Saturday in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered that during a disturbance between several people, a 19-year-old Alexandria man had suffered a gunshot wound.
Police say Jaren Gillam died as a result of his injuries around 1 a.m. Sunday.
A juvenile was taken into custody Sunday and booked with the shooting of Gillam. The teen is currently being held in juvenile detention.
Police say an investigation continues.
