Consumers should be aware of a solicitation targeting a local school and consumers, the Better Business Bureau said.
A woman who identifies herself as “Rebecca” with World Wide Circulation is asking local consumers to buy magazine subscriptions as part of a “journalism project” at Sowela Technical and Community College. She said the project’s purpose is to “go on a trip.”
Sowela informed the BBB that there is no such fundraising project asking people to subscribe to magazines. Officials at Sowela said they have not endorsed these sales.
Carmen Million, BBB president, said BBB company review for World Wide Circulation reflects an “F” rating based on a number of complaints that remain unanswered.
According to the company, they are a “clearing house,” and the company’s “purpose is to process magazine orders and help customers with their magazine orders.”
“BBB warns consumers to investigate any offer before agreeing to purchase magazines,” Million said in a news release. “Always check it out directly with the entity it is supposed to support.”
If you purchased a subscription and feel you were misled, you can file a complaint at www.bbb.org or call 337-478-6253.
