A 51-year-old Longville man fatally shot his wife Sunday afternoon, fled the scene and later crashed his vehicle before being arrested, authorities said.
Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Joe Toler said Randall Langley shot 44-year-old Sherry Lynn Langley twice with a rifle at a home at 1687 Longville Road.
Langley has been charged with second-degree murder. Bond was set at $1,750,000.
Toler said the Langley's daughter was in the home when the shooting occurred and called 911 at 1:18 p.m.
Randall Langley left the scene before authorities could arrive and later crashed his pick-up truck near Neale Oilfield Road at 7:15 p.m. Sunday.
Merryville police officers found Randall Langley next to a vehicle that was "fully engulfed in flames."
Randall Langley was then transported to a Lake Charles hospital and a city police officer was able to make a positive identification.
Langley was treated for his injuries and transported to the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was arrested and processed into the jail facility.
“We have reason to suspect there were some issues going on — marital issues,” Toler told the American Press.
Toler said the investigation is ongoing and no specific motive has been released.
