Arts Fest 2012 lets children explore holiday artwork

Christmas and other treasured holidays will come early this year for attendees of the 32nd annual Arts Fest, which will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Lake Charles Civic Center Exhibition Hall.

The event, hosted by the Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana, will allow children to create works of art based on the world’s diverse holidays.

“We’re doing this as a way to educate kids on both the holidays they’re familiar with, as well as multicultural holidays they may not have any experience with,” said Erica McCreedy, executive director of the arts council.

“We’ll have over 20 booths, each featuring a different holiday and art project to go with that holiday. It’s really a great way to get these kids into learning about different cultures.”
