ELTON — An Elton High School teacher and head basketball coach was arrested Monday following complaints of inappropriate conduct with students.
Justin Joseph Fruge, 35, of Elton was arrested on two counts of molestation of a juvenile involving two female students. Additional charges may be pending after investigators learned that similar incidents involving Fruge and other students may have occurred, some as far back as 2008, according Criminal Investigations Division Commander Chris Ivey.
Fruge is being held without bond in the Jeff Davis Parish jail.
He was arrested after an investigation revealed inappropriate conduct between him and at least two students. Ivey could not confirm whether the alleged incidents occurred at school or another location.
Fruge is a social studies teacher at Elton High School where he has worked several years, according to Superintendent Brian LeJeune. Fruge is also the head basketball coach.
LeJeune could not give Fruge’s employment status when contacted by the American Press on Tuesday. He said it was a personnel issue that school officials were “still dealing with.”
Ivey said the case against Fruge began Friday after information was received from LeJeune concerning reports of an alleged inappropriate relationship between Fruge and students.
Detectives are asking anyone with additional information related to any incidents involving Fruge to call the Sheriff’s Office at 821-2106.
