An 18-year-old Elton woman died, and two other Elton women were critically injured Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Ward Line Road and La. 397, Louisiana State Police officials said.

Troop D spokesman Sgt. James Anderson said Kennedy Renee Isaac, 18, was driving north on Ward Line Road and ran a stop sign. The car crashed into a jeep driven by Oralia Benoit, 49, of Lake Charles, who was heading east on La. 397.

Shelby Christine Granger, a passenger in Isaac’s vehicle, died in the crash. Isaac and her twin sister, Kelsey Regen Isaac, suffered critical injuries. None of the three women was wearing a seatbelt.

Benoit was wearing a seatbelt and suffered moderate injuries.

Anderson said Kennedy Isaac is suspected to have been impaired at the time of the crash. He said charges are pending.

Toxicology samples will be analyzed, and the crash remains under investigation, Anderson said.
