Tahj Jones, former LSU football player and Sulphur High graduate, was still listed in serious condition Sunday evening following surgery for a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to Charla Ducote, Rapides Regional Medical Center spokeswoman.
Jones, 24, was allegedly shot in Sulphur on Friday night by former LSU and NFL player Brandon Winey, 36. Jones was first brought to a local hospital, then transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Ducote said Jones was transferred because Rapides Regional is one of only two trauma hospitals in Louisiana.
Ducote said she couldn’t release any additional information on Jones’ condition at this time.
Winey was arrested without incident. As of Sunday, Winey was still jailed in Sulphur on $1 million bond.
